Summary
Crosses the wonders of Penhas Douradas all the way to the Faias viewpoint, passing through the Campo Romão plateau.
Starting and ending in Manteigas, at the heart of the Zêzere glacial valley. Between viewpoints, lagoons and rocky outcrops, the trail visits iconic places like Penhas Douradas, Casa da Fraga and Fragão do Corvo. It crosses the Rossim Valley towards the Lagoacho Dam, returns via the Mondeguinho spring and reaches the Campo Romão plateau. It ends with the wide-open views from the Faias viewpoint.

Penhas Douradas
Penhas Douradas, a name inspired by the glow of the setting sun, is a resort that gained fame in the 19th century thanks to the pure air of the Serra da Estrela.

Capela Nossa Senhora da Estrela de Manteigas
The Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Estrela was built in 1927 to shelter the deceased from the former Pulmonary Diseases Sanatorium. Expanded years later, it was handed over to the parish in 1936, becoming an important part of the local community.
Vale do Rossim
Vale do Rossim stands out for its dam, which creates the water mirror of the highest river beach in Portugal. A privileged leisure spot in summer, it was also an important grazing area for transhumance herds, maintaining a strong cultural identity.
Barragem do Lagoacho
The Lagoacho Dam, in the ancient glacial valley of Covão do Urso, stands out for its landscape shaped by ice and the impressive accumulation of granite blocks. An invitation to discover the unique geological history of Serra da Estrela.
